Introduction

Jisoo is a member of the girl group Blackpink, which debuted in 2016. She was born on March 4th, 1995 and has been active since 2013.

Jisoo's stage name means "beautiful" in Korean. Her real name is Kim Ji Soo (김지수).


Jisoo's Background

Jisoo was born on March 4, 1995 in Busan, South Korea. She attended Dong-Ah Institute of Media and Arts where she majored in dance. She also went on to study at Busan University of Foreign Studies for one semester before dropping out due to her busy schedule with Blackpink.

Jisoo made her debut as a member of Blackpink in 2016 along with Jennie Kim (JENNIE), Rosé Park Chae-young (ROSÉ) and Lisa Hanseol Lee Seung-gi (LISA). The group has released two studio albums so far: Square Up which dropped last year and their latest release Kill This Love which came out earlier this month!



Blackpink's Beginnings

Blackpink is a South Korean girl group formed by YG Entertainment in 2016. The group consists of members Jisoo, Jennie, Lisa and Ros?. Their debut single "Whistle" was released on August 8th, 2016 and entered at number three on the Gaon Digital Chart. In October 2016 they released their second single titled "Boombayah", which peaked at number one on both the Gaon Digital Chart and Billboard's World Digital Songs chart.[1]

Blackpink's third single "Playing with Fire" was released on November 1st 2017[2] followed by their fourth single "As If It's Your Last" on June 22nd 2018[3].


Jisoo's Role in Blackpink

Jisoo is the lead vocalist of Blackpink, and she's also one of the group's lead dancers. As a member of one of Korea's most popular girl groups, Jisoo has had plenty of opportunities to show off her skills as a visual--and she definitely doesn't disappoint!

Jisoo has been active in the entertainment industry since 2011 when she made her debut as part of an idol group called Secret. After Secret disbanded in 2014, Jisoo joined Mamamoo with fellow members Solar and Hwasa before joining Blackpink in 2016.
